- About Me
Hello,
My name is Aleksandra Dahan and I am a medical doctor (Warsaw Medical University), manual therapist (FRSc), yoga teacher (Open Mind Yoga School) and sports instructor specializing in dance (Polish Academy of Sport). I am dealing with conscious movement for over 15 years. I was practicing hip-hop, dancehall and other street styles, as well as contemporary dance, acrobatics, rock ‘n’ roll, and partnering. Over the years, I have co-created and participated in various workshops and artistic projects both domestically and abroad. In 2019, I founded the Bodyness project, aimed at developing body awareness through movement and listening to our inner wisdom. Currently, I am part of the partnering group ODDAJ CIĘŻAR led by Karolina Kroczak, and I am co-creating the performative collective “SzurSure”. For several years I have been organizing Ciałość retreat camps, giving stationary yoga and partnering classes, and leading various workshops at festivals.
I live and work in Warsaw on a daily basis. I am passionate about human being as a whole, medicine in a broad sense, music, singing, conscious touch, bodywork and authentic expression. In my work, I combine knowledge and experience from various fields, sciences, and my own practices to tailor sessions to the individual needs of participants. I love working with beginners and sharing my passion for movement and the body.
The history of Bodyness
Bodyness emerged from the integration of the words “wholeness”, “body” and “awareness” – and simultaneously from the connection of all the things I do with the body. It was born in 2019 when a client approached me wanting to work on expressing emotions through the body. From session to session, we delved into the depths of what was present and alive in the body but not always had a chance to be freely expressed. This exploration created a space for deep self-reflection and development from the body perspective. During one of the sessions, being moved by what was happening within him, this client exclaimed, “Ola! This needs to be shared with more people! This is great!”. And so, inspired by him, I did, meeting equally supportive and open-minded people along the way, for whom I am infinitely grateful.
